- Opus is unusually good at speech at very low bitrates, which is why chat apps picked it for voice notes. That efficiency is also why the MP3 you get back is normally the bigger of the two files.
- My file is named .ogg but the audio inside is Opus, will that work?
- That combination is expected here. Both extensions are accepted on this page, and the codec is detected from the contents of the file rather than from its name.
- Is the recording still clear afterwards?
- Speech stays perfectly understandable. The MP3 is encoded well above the bitrate a voice note was captured at, so this step is not what limits how it sounds.
