- Why will my WebP file not open in other apps?
- WebP is a web format first. Browsers all read it, but plenty of desktop software, printing services and older phones were built before it existed and simply ignore the file.
- Will the JPG look different from the WebP?
- Slightly, because both formats are lossy and the image passes through one more encoding. Quality is set high enough that the difference is invisible at normal viewing size.
- What happens to a WebP with a transparent background?
- JPG has no transparency, so see-through areas are filled with white. Pick PNG as the target instead when the cut out background has to survive.
